Any good walk starts with good preparation. Take the simple steps from the experts below and life will be much kinder to you.

ALWAYS bring adequate food along! Too many peanut butter sandwiches are better than too few. The picnic basket is optional.
Walking boots or stout shoes should be worn as the terrain will be varied.
Suitable clothing will keep out the chill (NO JEANS).
A raincoat is a must, not only does it keep the rain out but also the wind.
A fleece is also a good idea.
Chocolate or any snack!
Bring lots of water, especially in the summer.
Day Rucksac.
Personal First Aid Kit.
A torch will do no harm, especially if the walks are longer than expected.
